About my work

My works begin with a need, an urgency to communicate. It’s an intangible that has more to do with what I feel rather than what I see. Sometimes the trigger is one of my poems. Sometimes, it’s the simple evolution of my relationship with the environment. After identifying the message, the emotional value if you will, begins the journey and with it the challenge.

To take the materials to its limits, to capture lines, to suggest forms, to attack the paper with cutters, to caress it with pastels, to provoke textures, to shade it ceaselessly with graphite and accept the accident that contributes to the emotion. It’s all part of my search, and my hope that this monologue becomes a dialogue. Only then will the work tell me its truth.

About me

I was born in Viña del Mar, Chile in1966. Since the age of two, I grew up in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Here, as a child, I discovered my inclination for the plastic arts and poetry. Once I finished my Secondary Education in pedagogy in 1985, I moved to California, where I studied graphic design and digital imaging, at Los Angeles Valley College and the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. I landed in the textile industry, specializing in designs for surf & skate. Here and for almost two decades I developed and deepened my knowledge in all aspects of design, from advertising to silkscreen, from watches to textiles.

In 2008, I came to Spain accepting a design management job at a sportswear company.
It was 2011, when coming to a crossroad about labor, career and life, that I decided to dedicate the rest of my life to creating the art that I’ve always felt I was postponing.
At this time my work is concentrating in abstraction and the study of the human figure.
My subject matter has to do for the most part with current events, the day to day of the working man, our environment, our world of inequality, and our feelings about all of this.

My abstract work is personal, honest and an intimate one. It doesn’t aim to please your eyes, sometimes not even mine. But has the hopes to reach beyond and bring you in so we can talk.
Because I believe, for abstraction to be sustained in time, needs to be faithful to the essence of the emotion and feelings that gave its birth. Not always pretty, but beautifully honest.

Now, I feel is time to share my art.
